Dear World, Your Words...

Your words are not your history
Dear world
You are not writing your own story
Do not spend time looking for the typos in your letters
Or wondering if what you have to say is worth
the breath it takes to shout it across the void
Shout it anyway
Dear world
You are not a mirror
You are not in charge of reflecting reality exactly as you see it
Metaphors, you see, are beautiful, warped versions of your sunsets
They are flawed renderings of what we find buried under the ocean
When we dream
Dear world
When you dream,
Do not stop to think about where your wings might take you
You are not at risk of falling
You are not at risk of failing
Dear world
Please believe me when I say that
You are beautiful without your success
Your galaxies were never dependent on the creative air washed from your lungs
Or yesteryears gathered from amoung your weary stars
You will not be determined by the series of tomorrow's that awaits you
Dear world
Your words are not your history
You will not be remembered by the lost battles between your pages
You are not writing your own story
You are living it
Dear world
Your breath - your sacred respiration of symphony and color - has set the planets into motion
Your universe is spinning and doubt cannot govern your sunrise
Do not spend time looking for the typos in your letters
Or wondering if what you have to say is worth
the breath it takes to shout it across the void
Shout it anyway
Dear world
Your words are beautiful.
