The Tree-Slabs

Books are made of paper.

Paper comes from squished slices of trees.

Thus, books are made of squished slices of trees.

And now we have the beautiful word "tree-slabs" to describe the books and read and write with such passion.   (Coined in 2015 by the lovely Piper Allen.)

Currently, I am working on a baby tree-slab titled Labyrinth.  It's an alternate history of a myth/dystopia/high fantasy kinda thing.

(Thanks to Carlyn Ross for the beautiful cover <3 p="">

"The myth of Theseus and the Minotaur isn't just a myth.  But it doesn't have quite the happy ending that you might have been told....Thousands of years later, it's 2010 and the monster is still accepting applications for sacrifices."

I'm also working on a project with the amazing Skyler Barnes, a collection of our poetry and short stories from over the last year.  This is in the last stages of design, and will be published very soon!

Finally, our writing club, Young Writers of Kansas City, is getting ready to publish an anthology of their work.  Look for that in the near future!

Finally, I have published a few tree-slabs in the last few years with Olivia Rogers; YWKC also published its debut anthology last year. You can find these here, here, and here!

I'd love to hear what you think!  Anyone out there working on something right now?

Okay, so, the writing club is just at my high school, Sumner Academy, for the moment, but I really want to expand sometime. :) Where in KS are you? We need to get to know each other. :)

    2. That would be why I haven't heard of it. The only writing groups I've heard of around here are at a library that's too far away for me to get to.

I'm actually on the MO side.
